  • Season 4 brings a new set of Skill Rankings to provide more clear divisions between skill levels

    • The new Grand Champion rank will be harder to attain than in Season 3
    • There are now only four divisions per skill tier (e.g. Gold II, Division IV) due to each tier covering a smaller range of skills

2016-12-12 - v1.26

Patch Notes v1.26

Casual Playlists and Rocket Lab Arenas
  • We have removed Rocket Lab Arenas from the Casual Arena rotation (for now). Rocket Labs Arenas were appearing too frequently and the current 'Arena Preferences' system does not give players who dislike Rocket Labs maps enough sway to avoid them.
  • NOTE: New Rocket Labs Arena designs may appear next year in Casual playlists in a way that they can be more effectively influenced by Arena Preferences
  • We are also discussing alternative ways to get your feedback on new Arenas in shorter doses.
Stats, Settings, and Preset Data
  • Fixed an issue with the game client picking the wrong local profile from your save data. For some accounts that played splitscreen, this caused a "loss" of recorded stats, in-game settings, and car presets when the patch was released.
  • PC players should see their stats, settings, and presets restored with this hotfix. Unfortunately this was not possible for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
  • We are investigating solutions for next year that would prevent this from happening again by storing more of your information in our database so it cannot be lost due to this kind of bug, save-data corruption, or hardware malfunction of your PC/ Console.
Map Selection
  • Fixed an issue that allowed Wasteland and Neo Tokyo to appear more frequently than they did before the Starbase ARC Patch.
Misc
  • [Hotfixed] Fixed collision issue that caused vehicles to sometimes bounce when landing / caused the Batmobile to sometimes land "inside" the field.
  • The previous fix for the Batmobile "wobble-on-landing" had to be removed so that we can better address it in a future update.
  • [Hotfixed] (PC) Fixed rendering issue that created a flickering problem for some Arenas.
  • Fixed VSync for Mac.
  • Fixed the Vulcan DLC Showroom thumbnail so that it would no longer shows an image of Triton.
  • The "Current Tier" text shown after Competitive matches will no longer be colored Green or Red when changing Divisions if the "Hide Competitive Divisions" option is enabled.

  • Controller Deadzone
  • A new Controller Deadzone option has been added that allows players to specify how large of an analog stick input deadzone they want.
  • The default value of 0.3 means that you must tilt the analog stick 30% of the way in a direction before your car begins to change directions on the ground or in the air.
  • Reducing this value makes your steering more sensitive, but can also lead to unintended changes in direction.
  • This value does not affect how the game detects directional dodge move input.
Online
  • (PC) Steam Workshop Map Support
  • The Steam Workshop has been enabled for PC players that wish to create and/or play custom community maps.
  • To participate, visit the "Workshop" section of the Rocket League Steam Community site and click the "Subscribe" button on any content that interests you, and the content will be automatically downloaded by Steam.

  • Arena Preferences
  • An "Arenas" button has been added to the Playlist menu that allows players to "Like" or "Dislike" specific maps.
  • "Liking" an arena increases the odds that you will play on it in online matches, while "Disliking" has the opposite effect.

  • Private Matches now support Team Color selection. These colors override the colors selected by players. Similar to Season mode, the full color palette is available, and the stadium colors will change to reflect your choices.
  • Competitive Inactivity
  • Players who do not play a competitive match for 30 days or longer are now considered Inactive. Inactivity removes you from Competitive Leaderboards and reassigns you to the "Unranked" Skill Tier.
  • Inactive players' skill rating is not lost or reset - they must play a few placement matches to be re calibrated. The number of placement matches depends on how long they have been inactive.
  • The following Boost Trails have received a visual upgrade:
  • Bubbles
  • Confetti
  • Datastream
  • Flamethrower Purple
  • Grass
  • Hydro
  • Money

  • You can Party Chat on the Main Menu before matchmaking, from Training or other local modes, or even in a live match.
  • Messages from other party members will appear in your in-game chat log as well.
  • The "Manage Inventory" screen now supports searching and filtering of items.
  • While in the Replay Viewer, you can now open the Replay List and change which replay you're watching from the mid-game menu.
  • In Competitive matches, the Skill Division / Promotion / Demotion display has been moved to the Scoreboard screen so it does not interfere with the Postgame Spotlight.
AUDIO
  • Split screen audio is now handled in a new way allowing for cleaner reproduction, specifically focused on surround sound systems.
  • An audio priority system has been put into place that slightly alters the mix balance so you hear more of what is relevant to the given gameplay situation
  • New attenuation curves have been implemented for cleaner spatialization within gameplay
  • Spam Control has been implemented that turns down and makes the sound less focused as it is pressed in rapid succession (this is mostly used for boost ignition sounds)
  • New EQ and Filtering on a per buss level to clean up the low end (bassiness) of the game
  • A redesign of the goal explosion sound has been put in that is more concise and punchy
  • Throttle input for bots has been altered so they will no longer feather the on/off audio constantly

Online

  • Cosmic

  • Uncommon unlocks are only only awarded after a complete game in online playlists (They are not available for unlock offline modes or in Private matches)
  • Multiple copies of the same "Uncommon" item can be collected, illustrated with a count number in the Garage UI
  • There is a maximum of ten hours of playtime per week that can earn items, so don't bother trying to idle your way to a full inventory!

  • There are now three Champion ranks at the top Champion tier:

  • There are five divisions in each Skill Tier - with each representing roughly 20% of the skill range in that
  • Division V (highest),
  • Division IV
  • Division III
  • Division II
  • Division I (lowest)
  • For example: An All-Star player that is roughly halfway to the next Skill Tier would appear as "All-Star, Division III"
  • Players in the Top Tier (now "Grand Champion") will see a numerical Skill Rating in place of a divisional indicator.
  • Players still Unranked in Competitive can now see how many Placement Matches they have remaining in each playlist
  • Ranked Reconnect has been added to the game. Players who lose connection during a competitive rocket league match will now be given the option to reconnect to their previous game.

New Country Flags Coming in Next Patch

Hello everyone,

Though Rocket League shipped with more than 80 different country flags when we released last month, there were still several other nations that weren't included for release. With our next patch (v1.04) due later this month, however, we now have the opportunity to add those missing countries.

Listed alphabetically, here are ALL the new country flags that will be available in our next patch later this month, followed by a list of existing flags for you completionists out there. If there's a country that's still missing from our roster, let us know and we'll see about adding it in another future update!

(Also, this could be the longest post of all time)
